What is Y2K Fashion even though? 

This style is an aesthetic, is a radically distinctive and it was inspired by the mid 90’s and the early 2000’s. This when the internet was becoming more popular. This style is basically quite futuristic with a slightly retro edge, mostly shiny materials, chunky sneakers, pleated skirts, baguette bags, and colourful sunglasses. This trend came from the changes of music, film, decor, and fashion. So in this blog post I’ll be showing you how to rock them Y2K fashion. 


1) Baby Tees  

This teeny-tiny tees are such cute shirts. This were a fashion back in the early 2000’s. There are tight one and loose ones. This tees are similar to crops but they are different from over sized tees. You are able to match this tees with whatever you want. 


2) Shiny materials

With the high tech boom in the 2000’s the idea of shiny material was such a huge trend. You can wear silver or pearlescent shades are a great way to make you outfit pop and ad a touch of fabulous. Wear a silver puffer jacket and some silver wide leg pants. 


3) Baguette bags

This bags are a true symbol to the Y2K fashion. This bags nestle under you arm and are the perfect accessory to go with your daily getup. To make it really vintage, buy a Louis Vuitton or Fendi bag. Pastel shades really bring in the early 2000 feel. 


4) Pleated Colourful Skirts

The early 2000’s fully embraced the styling of Bratz Dolls, which contained pleated colourful skirts. You can find many ways to style this skirt for you—micro-mini or a little bit longer— it all about you feeling your cutest. Match them with you chunky sneakers or boots. Also add them with you over-sized sweater shirt or a crop top. 


5) Tie Front Tops

This was one big trend from the 2000’s and it is making a comeback. And in this year they are coming up with a upgraded style, pastels and ribbed fabrics. 

Style this with you cute bracketed, t-shirt, or nothing underneath and look super fresh. Match it with high-waisted-jeans, a mini skirt, or patterned wide-leg trousers. 


6) Velour Tracksuits

This iconic trend has made its way back 20 years later, with a little makeover. Brands like Juicy Couture, Baby Phat, and celebs like JLO, Paris Hilton, and Britney Spears made this ensemble famous. Rock it with matching crop tops and Bartlett’s, denim jackets, and chunky sandals. 


7) Double Denim

DENIM EVERYWHERE!! This trend includes denim tops, denim bottoms, and denim shoes even. The Y2K aesthetic has a particular way of styling the ensemble - it’s all about creating a silhouette. 

8) Bandanas

One of the staple accessory trends of the early 2000s was the bandana. You can rock it many ways. Including folding it into a triangle and wrapping in on top you head. Add some skinny sunglasses and keep your hair loose below. You can make it a thin strip to make it a headband.
